Two New Media Pushes By CDFGC Hitting Local Media Market

A variety of media outlets are currently featuring two new Coalition for a Drug-Free Greater Cincinnati (CDFGC) community projects on their websites or airwaves for the next few months. In September, the CDFGC's web banner campaign as well as the winning public service announcements from the Tristate's first ever Campus Challenge contest began airing.

From now through the end of fall, The Cincinnati Enquirer and WCPO-TV will feature web banners aimed at informing the region about substance use by youth and how citizens of all ages can get involved in a coalition.

Here is the text of the current web banners:

- Thousands of Greater Cincinnati kids start using both alcohol and pot at the age of 13. Change those stats. Get involved in a coalition. Click here to learn how you can help.

 - The brain fully matures at age 25. When kids use alcohol and drugs, it holds up the progress. Ensure their full potential. Join a coalition. Click here to lean how you can help.

Special thanks to two of CDFGC's work groups that provided their input in this campaign: the Public Awareness Work Group and the Local Coalition Development Committee. Another public service announcement is also being featured in the Tristate.

The PSAs created and produced by the winners of CDFGC's first Campus Challenge focused on youth marijuana use are currently airing on Cincinnati's local television stations. One PSA was produced by Shayne Farrell entitled, “Regrets,” and the other, produced by Charlie Mattingly and Kyle Plantholt, is called, “Late Pick Up.” Farrell, Mattingly, and Plantholt are all NKU students. Plans for the second Campus Challenge contest are underway. The focus this time will be on the dangers of prescription drug abuse.
