Manager of Local Coalition Development

I’m Tommy Koopman and I am the Manager of Local Coalition Development for the Coalition. I started with the CDFGC in January of 2011 after spending 2 years working in health promotion for the Northern Kentucky Health Department. I earned a Master’s degree Health Promotion from Miami University and am a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). My wife and I currently reside in Fort Thomas, Kentucky.

As the Manager of Local Coalition Development, my job is to provide technical support and assistance to 21 member coalitions across the region and to help establish coalitions in communities where none currently exist. Because each community and coalition is different, my job varies widely based on which community I am supporting.

In communities with new coalitions, my job often entails helping to mobilize community partnerships and resources to help support the work of the coalition. In communities with well established coalitions, my work involves helping the coalition to implement effective, evidence based strategies in their communities. For all coalitions, my colleagues and I offer trainings in multiple areas of coalition building and sustainability.

One part of the mission of the CDFGC is to “support locally based community mobilization” and my job is to ensure that the CDFGC successfully reaches this goal.  Please email me to learn more about how the Coalition can support your community.
